Child Watch

Welcome To Child Watch

The Child Watch service effective April 15, 2014 is for children included on Family and Single Parent Family Memberships and is available while YMCA members are working out or in parent and tot activities at the YMCA.

Child Watch is limited to one and a half hours per visit. Any members utilizing the Child Watch facility must remain in the building to ensure the safety of the child especially for medical emergencies.

Sign In/Out Procedure

Each time your child is dropped off, he or she must be signed in and out. We also ask that you put where you will be in the building. Please put down your cell phone number in case we have to contact you. Please be sure to update your emergency contact, pick up/drop off list. We will not let your child enter/leave our facility unless the person is on your drop off/pick up list for the safety of the child.

We ask that your child have a snack before or after their visit with us. Drinks and bottles are acceptable but please do your bottle feeding before your workout. Please make sure these are labeled with your child’s first and last name on them.

Each day we will have fun activities scheduled for your child. We allow children to choose which activities they would like to participate in.

Daily Activities may include:

  • Crafts
  • Musicafterschool
  • Dance
  • Puzzles
  • Dress Up
  • Audio Books
  • Coloring
  • Painting
  • Organized games
  • Free play

We ask that all children come to child watch with a clean dry diaper.

Upset Children

Upset and unhappy children will be given as much attention as possible. If staff are unable to console the child after 10 minutes, the parent/guardian will be asked to return to the center to help comfort the child. If the child is still inconsolable after another ten minutes we ask that you try again tomorrow. We encourage parents/guardians to stay and play with the child as long as needed to help them feel comfortable.

Sick Child Policy

In order to keep a clean and healthy environment for all children and staff, we ask that you do not bring your child to Child Watch if he or she is sick or is displaying any signs of illness. Please do not bring children who have had a fever, rash, or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours. The Child Watch supervisor will make the final determination as to whether a child is able to stay in the event of illness. We have the right to refuse any child displaying signs of illness. If your child begins to display signs of illness after you have left them we will come get you. Thank you for helping to make the Y a safe and healthy place for kids.

The YMCA reserves the right to suspend any child from the program who consistently displays inappropriate behavior, is continually disruptive, habitually creates problems for other children or who engages in physical aggression.
