American Kang Duk Won Karate offers programs for students of all ages.

Classes are led by certified instructors in the American Kang Duk Won style of martial arts, providing a strong foundation in both technique and discipline. Students learn essential skills including strikes, kicks, stances, self-defense, sparring, stretching, meditation, and the history and traditions of martial arts.

Karate not only teaches practical self-defense, but also emphasizes awareness, confidence, and avoidance.

Kang Duk Won translates to “the arena for the teaching of virtue.” It is a martial art—not a sport-focused program—and places a strong emphasis on character development. Black Belts guide students to understand that training is 90% mental discipline.

Students enrolled at Watertown Family YMCA also have the opportunity to train at any of our locations at no additional cost.
